Latin name: Cucurbita moschata

Easy to grow, the 'Musquée de Provence' thrives in rich, well-drained soils and in full sun exposure. The fruits, weighing between 5 and 10 kg, reach full maturity in the fall, offering generous harvests.

For successful cultivation, sow directly into the ground after all risk of frost, or start indoors 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting. Plant seeds 2 to 3 cm deep, spacing plants at least 1.5 to 2 m apart to allow for spread. Germination takes place in 7 to 10 days.

Ensure regular irrigation, especially during the fruiting period, and enrich the soil with compost or organic fertilizer. Harvest the fruits in autumn, when they are well tanned and their skin is hard. Store them in a cool, dry place to extend their shelf life.

With its rich flavor and versatility in the kitchen, 'Musquée de Provence' winter squash is a must-have for gardeners and lovers of authentic vegetables.
