'Boltardy' Beet Seeds on Ribbon (Beta vulgaris) – offered by WH Perron
'Boltardy' beetroot is a prized variety for its deep red globular roots and tender, sweet flesh without distinct rings. Perfect for salads, soups and other dishes, it resists bolting, ensuring a prolonged harvest even during hot periods. The seed tape, containing 140 seeds, makes sowing easy, ensures even distribution and reduces the need for thinning.
Plant height : 30 to 40 cm
Spread : 15 to 20 cm
Quantity per packet : 140 seeds
Companion plants : Garlic, artichoke, broccoli, chamomile, celery, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, shallot, strawberry, dwarf bean, lettuce, onion, radish
Enemy plants : Swiss chard, carrot, spinach, bean, pole bean, corn, leek, potato, tomato
Cultivation method :
Unroll the seed tape directly into loose, well-drained soil. Bury it 1 cm deep and space the rows 30 cm apart to promote optimal air circulation and good root development. Prefer a rich, slightly sandy soil with a pH of 6.0 or higher. Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture and prevent roots from becoming fibrous.
Combine 'Boltardy' with companion plants such as broccoli or lettuce to stimulate growth and deter pests. Avoid enemy plants such as carrots or spinach to reduce the risk of competition or disease.
Harvest the roots when they reach 2 to 3 inches in diameter for a tender texture and optimal flavor. Young leaves can also be eaten raw in salads or cooked like spinach.
Add 'Boltardy' beetroot to your garden for a tasty, productive and easy-to-grow harvest using seed tape.
