Cicoria Catalogna Ancient red dandelion-chicory vegetable. Produces medium sized red stems – Upright growing green leafed chicory that is full of bite and flavor! Produces tender, erect dark green leaves up to 30 cm (12 in) long. A must have for all traditional Italian salads. Harvest as baby lettuce as quickly as 24 days after germination or harvest later in the season. The taste is improved by a light frost.

Sow once the soil can be worked in spring, sow seeds about 3mm (1/8in) deep in rows 45cm (18in) apart. A regular supply of moisture throughout the growing period is imperative for success. Harvest by cutting leaves from the main stem at least 2.5 cm (1 in) above the base. Avoid cutting the crown where the root begins, as new shoots will often emerge from this area, prolonging the harvest.
