This flavorful herb is frequently used in Southeast Asian and Latin American dishes. Its strong flavors pairs well with mint & cilantro and other herbs. This saw-toothed, low-growing, pungent, green herb is native to Mexico, the Caribbean, Central, and South America. It is perennial but grown here as annual. It works well in containers, raised beds, and any place where the soil tends to be on the warm side. It dries well, keeping its fine flavor.

Planting tip: Start seeds indoors about eight weeks before the last frost date.  Prepare the soil by moistening it and sowing the tiny seeds on the surface. Transplant when night time °T are consistently greater than 10°C. Leaves grow larges when grown in partial shade.
Harvesting tip: As needed, remove individual leaves from the plant.  Harvest the entire plant before signs of bolting or frost appear. Best to allow the leaves to dry fully with the tap root attached.
