Butterfly Milkweed

Butterfly Milkweed

Approximately 150 seeds per packet.

Tuberous milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa) is the host plant of the monarch butterfly and an important source of nectar for bees and butterflies. The bright orange flowers stand out from any other color in the garden. It is less toxic than its cousin common milkweed, has a more shrubby habit and spreads less aggressively.

Growing Instructions

Cold, damp stratification required. Mix seeds with moist growing media (vermiculite, perlite or moss) and place in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 6 to 8 weeks. Sow seeds 1/8 inch deep. Do not allow seedlings to dry out while they are establishing.

OR

Sow directly outdoors in late fall to overwinter.
