Pole pea 'San Cristoforo' (Pisum sativum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds

The 'San Cristoforo' climbing pea is an Italian variety prized for its exceptional productivity. Plants reach an average height of 3 to 4 feet (48 to 60 inches) and can be grown with or without supports. This variety produces twin dark green pods, each containing 8 to 10 tasty peas, and offers a prolonged harvest over a long period.

Days to maturity : 55 to 60 days
Height : 48 to 60 inches
Spacing : 10 to 14 inches
Sowing : Direct sowing
Exposure : Full sun
Quantity per pack : untreated, non-GMO seeds

Cultivation method:

Sow peas directly into the ground from early April to mid-May when soil temperatures are between 50-60°F (10-16°C). Fall crops are also possible in hardiness zones 6 and 7. Sow in double rows 10" (25 cm) apart, with seeds 2.5" (6.5 cm) apart and 1/2" (2.5 cm) to 1" (1.25 to 2.5 cm) deep. Space each pair of rows 2.5' (75 cm) apart.

You can also sow in 120 cm (48") square blocks, with the seeds spaced 6.5 cm (2.5") apart. To prolong the harvest, sow successively every 10 to 14 days. Maintain consistent soil moisture during germination to ensure uniform emergence.

Although this variety can be grown without supports, staking is recommended for climbing plants to facilitate harvesting and maximize production. Water regularly once flowering begins, and harvest pods daily to enjoy their optimal flavor while stimulating new pod formation.

A productive and tasty Italian variety!

The climbing pea 'San Cristoforo' is an ideal choice for gardeners looking for a bountiful and tasty harvest. With its pods filled with tender peas, this variety adds an authentic Italian touch to your vegetable garden.
