Cultivation method
Sow indoors 6 weeks before the last frost in warm soil ( 23-29°C ). Transplant outdoors after the last frost , in full sun. Maintain a slightly moist and well-drained soil. Pinch the stems regularly to encourage branching and prevent the seeds from going to seed too quickly.
Harvesting and conservation
Harvest leaves as needed and encourage the plant to produce more. Harvest before flowering to preserve maximum aroma. Leaves can be dried or frozen for extended use.
Recipe idea: Basil, cinnamon and honey infusion
A fragrant and soothing herbal tea, perfect after a meal.
Ingredients (for 2 cups)
- 10 fresh cinnamon basil leaves
- 500 ml of hot water
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 slice of lemon (optional)
Preparation
- Bring the water to a boil.
- Add the cinnamon basil leaves and let infuse for 5 to 7 minutes .
- Strain, add honey and lemon if desired.
- Enjoy hot or chill for an iced infusion.
💡 Tip : This infusion pairs well with a touch of ginger or a cinnamon stick for an even richer flavor.
