Sow the seeds directly outdoors once the danger of frost has passed and cover them with a fine sifting of soil. Grow as a short-term transplant to avoid bolting. Sow seeds sequentially for a steady supply of plants throughout the summer. Seeds usually germinate in 5 to 7 days. Transplant the seedlings 10 to 12 days later, at least 30 cm apart. The leaves can be used 25 to 30 days after transplanting.
