Sow seeds directly outdoors at a depth of 1 cm (1/2 inch) in early spring or June to early July, in rows 60 cm (24 in.) apart. Thin seedlings 30 cm (12 in.) apart. Kale is very cold tolerant and develops its best flavor after fall frosts.
