These sturdy plants produce strong, uniform, columnar stems filled with waxy, silvery-blue leaves. 2″ round leaves. Excellent for cut flower production.
Sowing: Seed stratification is necessary for 4 to 6 weeks. Sow seeds indoors 10 to 12 weeks. before the last frost. Fine vermiculite should be used to gently cover the seeds. Water low or mist to avoid covering the seeds with displaced soil. Transplant into a larger pot when the first true leaves appear. Harden off and transplant outdoors after the last frost. Requires warm soil, preferably black plastic mulch or landscape fabric.
Harvest: Harvest as soon as the leaves begin to look leathery. Use glycerin as a preservative. Handle with care as the leaves bruise easily or turn black. Harvest in mid-to-late afternoon, after the morning dew has dried, for the best oil content.
