Described commercially for the first time in the United States by Boston seed merchant Charles H. Hovey in 1834, it is possible that this squash grew in Quebec since the Iroquois cultivated it before the 1700s. Beige in color, it can measure up to ‘to 30 cm and is easily recognized by the end of its curved stem like a hook. It is eaten in salad or cooked.

It is normally to observe a certain variability in the shape of the squash.
