Easy to sow directly outdoors once danger of frost has passed. Plants will flower in 6 to 8 weeks after sowing. For transplants, sow the seeds indoors at the beginning of April. Press the seeds into the soil without growing medium, but do not cover. Germinates at 20°C (70°F) in 5 to 10 days.
Grow under lights, then harden off and transplant outdoors in late May, spacing plants 10cm (4in) apart in the garden. Plants grow best in well-drained soil in sunny sites where summers are cooler and in partially shaded sites (4 to 6 hours of sun) in hot summer regions. Gently mowing the plants after the first bloom has finished will stimulate a second bloom.
